Changes to the public health measures, coming into effect tomorrow, Thursday 10 December, permit swimming pools and bathing establishments to open to up to 50% of their maximum capacity. The new measure is in effect until 12 January 2021, unless otherwise announced. Children born in 2005 or later are not included in the guest count. Please note that real-time information on the number of visitors to each swimming pool is available on each pool's page.

This means that the maximum number in each pool is as follows:

  • Ásvallalaug – 160 guests
  • South Bay Pool – 80 guests
  • Hafnarfjörður Swimming Pool – 32 guests

Suðurbæjarlaug will reopen with indoor and outdoor changing rooms, but please note that the steam bath and women's steam room at Suðurbæjarlaug will remain closed. In addition, the men's steam rooms at Sundhöll and Suðurbæjarlaug will have very strict capacity limits. Guests are encouraged to observe the 2-metre rule at all times and to maintain the highest standards of hygiene, as cooperation in public health is the only way the pools can remain open. The pools will be open according to their usual opening hours.
