Temporary road closure – Strandgata – The Christmas Village
The Christmas Village opens on 14 November. To ensure the safety of visitors, streets near the heart of Hafnarfjörður will be closed during the Christmas Village's opening hours. The closure is in effect from From 14 November at 17:00 to 23 December at 20:00.

Our Hafnarfjörður Christmas Village at Thorsplani opens on 14 November. To ensure the safety of visitors, streets near the heart of Hafnarfjörður will be closed during the Christmas Village's opening hours. The closure is in effect from From 14 November at 17:00 to 23 December at 20:00.
Please note that a partial closure will be in place at 49 Strandgata to allow residents to return home. A full closure will then be implemented at the junction of Strandgata and Gunnarssund, and safety will be fully ensured from that section of the street.
The opening hours of the Christmas Village are as follows:
- Fridays 5-8 pm
- Saturdays 1pm-8pm
- Sundays 1pm-6pm
- Monday 22nd December, 5-8 pm
- Tuesday, 23rd December, St. Thomas's Day, 13:00-21:00
- Please note: Strandgata will be open to emergency services.
Please note. The car parks at Linnet Street are open, as are those at Firði. Hafnarfjörður also advises visitors that taking the bus is one of the best ways to enjoy the Christmas Village.
