The 2022 Primary School Innovation Teacher is Ásta

Primary school innovation teacher wants to foster pupils' independence

Ásta Sigríður Ólafsdóttir, a design and construction teacher at Víðistaðaskóli, was chosen as the 2022 Primary School Innovation Teacher in the Primary School Innovation Competition., Not enough. Ásta received an award of 150,000 krónur from the Federation of Icelandic Industries, along with a trophy and a certificate of recognition. The aim of Ásta's teaching approach is to foster independent and critical thinking, imagination, initiative, and to ensure students always see opportunities and solutions in every task. This mindset is useful in all learning and in life itself, and helps students to put themselves in other people's shoes.  More detailed information about Ásta Sigríður's teaching approach can be found at NKG website.
