The Hafnarfjörður leisure bus will resume its service on Monday, 31st August, offering all children in Years 1–4 a lift to training sessions starting at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. More detailed information about departure times and locations from each school will be provided by the individual schools.
The service will run every weekday until the Christmas holidays, except that it will be suspended during the winter break. It runs to specific training sessions for particular clubs at set times (15:00 and 16:00), all in accordance with agreements made with the clubs. The after-school transport service therefore covers the following:
- Hafnarfjörður School of Choreography
- Hafnarfjörður Music School
- Gymnastics Club Björk
- Hafnarfjörður Gymnastics Club – FH. Includes training at Kaplakrika
- Hawks. Includes training at Ásvellir
- Hafnarfjörður Swimming Club – SH
- Hafnarfjörður Badminton Club
- Keilir Golf Club
Training schedules are now available for most sports clubs, and many parents have already started to register their children. The project is a collaboration between the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður, the sports clubs and Hópbílar, who are providing the transport.
Registration for leisure driving
It is a good idea to register children for training first and then for the drive, but everyone will get a place in the drive. Registration for the drive takes place via My pages – Primary schools – After-school transport

The transport is provided free of charge to parents. A member of staff from the relevant after-school club accompanies each journey, ensuring the children's safety on the coach and that they reach the correct destination.
Children who are not enrolled in the after-school club for Years 1–4 can also use the transport service. However, it is the parents' responsibility to register them and to ensure they arrive on time at the designated pick-up point. Parents must collect their children when the session has finished.
It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to amend the application if there are changes to training sessions or training times. Please note that registrations and amendments take effect after 24 hours. The process is the same as for a new application. Changes cannot be made by email or by telephone. Please note that registration for children attending the Haukasel day-care centre is handled by Haukasel.

After-school shuttle service
The after-school shuttle service is starting again on Monday 31 August and all children in 1st–4th grade are offered a shuttle service to sports practices that start at 15:00 and 16:00. Detailed information on departure times and places of departure from each school will be sent directly to parents within each school.
The shuttle service will run every weekday until Christmas, except during the winter short break when the service is cancelled. The shuttle service stops at many locations, such as the Listdansskólinn (ballet school), the music school, Björkin, FH, Haukur and SH, the Hafnarfjörður Badminton Society and Keilir Golf Club. Practice schedules are now available at most sports clubs and many parents have already started to register their children. The project is a cooperative effort of the municipality of Hafnarfjörður, the sports clubs and Hópbílar, who provide the service.
Registering for after-school shuttle services
It is recommended to first register children for practices and then for the shuttle service, as everyone will receive a place on the shuttle service. Registration for the shuttle service is done through My Pages – Primary schools – After-school shuttle services

The shuttle service is free for parents. An employee from the after-school centre accompanies the children on every trip and ensures the children's safety on the shuttle and that everyone ends up at the right activity.
Children in Years 1 to 4 who are not registered at an after-school club can also use the shuttle service, but it is the parents’ responsibility to register them and ensure they arrive on time at the designated pick-up point. Guardians will then collect the children when the session has finished.
It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to amend the application if there are changes to practices or practice times, and attention is drawn to the fact that registrations and changes take effect after 24 hours. The process is the same as in the case of a new application. It is not possible to make changes by email or telephone. Please note that registration for children at the Haukasel after-school activity centre takes place at Haukasel.
