Ásvallabraut opens to traffic

News

The new Ásvallabraut in Hafnarfjörður opened to traffic today, with construction on the road having begun in the spring of 2020. With the opening of Ásvallabraut from Skarðshlíð to Ásland 3, residential areas on either side of Ásfjall are connected, thereby better linking Skarðshlíð and the upper Vellir neighbourhoods with Kaldárselsvegur and the Reykjanesbraut. The Ásvallabraut will also serve Hamranes, a new neighbourhood opposite Skarðshlíð which is being developed rapidly, and the neighbourhoods planned for Ásland in the near future.
