The town's nursery school websites simplified and harmonised
The nurseries have now each been given their own website and all logos have been redrawn. Everything related to each brand is now accessible in the Hafnarfjörður Design System.
A unified appearance, but independence is celebrated
The next step in design Website of Hafnarfjörður's nurseries has been taken. Each school now has its own landing page on the town's website, hafnarfjordur.is. There are eighteen nurseries in Hafnarfjörður.
„After the digital revolution in nursery education, where we adopted Valu, all the nurseries“ websites were discontinued. But after a thorough needs analysis, it was decided to digitise the nurseries' internal operations and simplify communication between the nurseries and residents," says Ingvar Högni Ragnarsson, project manager for digital projects at the City of Hafnarfjörður.
Each school with its own character
The first step in clear communication with residents was to create a simple and clear information page for each and every nursery school. „We embarked on a complete rewrite of all the text for the nurseries. Each one emphasises its own identity. The nurseries are different, and they retain their unique characteristics and promote their policies,“ he says.
„Practical information was then coordinated for all the nurseries. It simplifies our administration. By taking this route, the nurseries don't have to maintain their own websites themselves but can focus on their professional work. We then assist the nurseries with their web matters. This has proved to be very successful,“ he says.
At the same time as the websites were merged under the umbrella of the Hafnarfjörður municipality website, all the nursery logos were redrawn and made available in the municipality's design system. „This is important because in the digital world, logos, text and images remain accessible across different devices. This is now ready, and all the nurseries have received stationery and other items from the design system,“ says Ingvar.
Good cooperation simplified the work.
„There is great satisfaction with this arrangement, particularly its simplicity. This work also involved digitising the nurseries“ communications with the council's departments. That work is ongoing and will then form the basis of the third phase in the nurseries' digitalisation journey.“
Ingvar says that all this work was carried out in close collaboration with the nurseries, with all the text created in partnership with Berglind Ósk Bergsdóttir, a specialist in copywriting. The logos were then designed in close collaboration with each nursery. „For work like this to succeed, a good dialogue needs to be in place, and I thank all the wonderful people at the nurseries who took part for their fantastic collaboration.“
