It's almost too late to register your child for the 2021 summer holiday. Registration is open until 18 March.
From the summer of 2021, Hafnarfjörður's nurseries will be open all year round. The aim of the summer opening is to meet the wishes of parents and to increase the possibility of parents being able to take their summer holiday at the same time as their children. The summer holiday period for nursery children is from 15 May to 15 September each year. Children born in 2015 who are starting primary school in autumn 2021 must finish their time in nursery by 30 July 2021 at the latest. All children must take a continuous four-week summer holiday from nursery school..
Registration of a summer holiday is binding. and it is important that all parents submit their registration by 18th March. Registration for summer holiday takes place on My Pages – Open registration form
The operation of the nurseries is dependent on the number of children at any given time and may therefore be on a modified schedule during the summer holidays when most children are away. Summer staff from the Hafnarfjörður Work School, aged 18 and over, will join the nursery staff during the summer period. All summer staff will attend a new starter course specifically for nursery staff, which will be held by the City of Hafnarfjörður. Once all summer holiday bookings have been finalised, parents will receive further information about the organisation of the nursery's operations over the summer. It should be expected that groups and classes may be combined for part of the period.
It is important to meet the deadline for registering for summer holidays, and we therefore encourage all parents of nursery children in Hafnarfjörður to register their children for the summer holidays as soon as possible.
