Get Together Family Festival on 17th June

Solidarity was the word of the national day.

Get Together held an open house for the second time on 17th June. This year, waffles with cream and jam, doughnuts, coffee, hot chocolate and juice were served. Inside Vónarhöfn, families were making flags, while others played music on the piano, as there were several piano prodigies among the guests. Outside, there was a clothes stall, a food tent, outdoor chairs and chalk for the children to use for entertainment. All the children received a goody bag with all sorts of treats to take with them for the day, and the group as a whole enjoyed spending time together in good company.

Unity was the theme of Get Together's National Day, but without the volunteers who work selflessly for the benefit of the people and well-wishers, it would not have been possible to make the day as wonderful as it was. The organisation extends special thanks to the following: City of Hafnarfjörður, Hafnarfjörður Church, HS Orka, Húsasmiðjan, Matarbúðin Nándin, Krónan, ÓJ&K- ÍSAM, Ísafoldarprentsmiðja, Leikfangaland, Gæðabakstur – Ömmubakstur, Mjólkursamsalan and Góa.

Empowerment and support for refugees in Hafnarfjörður

GETA – Aid Organisation is a non-profit organisation run by dynamic volunteers in partnership with Hafnarborg and the Church of Hafnarfjörður. The organisation's external activities operate under the name Get together – support for refugees in Hafnarfjörður, and its main purpose is to organise social gatherings and events for refugees and applicants for international protection residing in Hafnarfjörður. Through regular social gatherings, support and education, GETA aims to break down social isolation, empower and support refugees, thereby contributing to a positive multicultural society. GETA is a non-profit organisation that supports all refugees, regardless of faith or nationality.
