Health-promoting Hafnarborg
Hafnarfjörður has become an official participant in the Healthy Towns of Hafnarfjörður project and will henceforth place greater emphasis on those aspects of its operations that are considered to have a positive effect on the mental, social and even physical health of its visitors.
Hafnarborg – the cultural and art centre of Hafnarfjörður, has now become an official participant in the Healthy City of Hafnarfjörður project and will henceforth place a greater emphasis on those aspects of its activities that are considered to have a positive effect on the mental, social and even physical health of its visitors. Hafnarborg has previously been involved in the project, for example by participating in the annual cultural and health walks in Hafnarfjörður, alongside Heilsubærinn and other cultural institutions in the town.

Mental refreshment and social connections are good for your health.
Museums are places where visitors have the space to relax and enjoy culture and art, practise being in the present moment, and stimulate their senses. Museums are also places to strengthen social connections through shared experiences, conversation and collaboration. For years, Hafnarborg has been organising cultural events that have become firmly established in the town's life, such as the ever-popular lunchtime concerts. By formally defining these events as health-promoting, we want to remind people that it is important to get some mental refreshment and nurture social connections to maintain good health.
In the coming quarters, Hafnarborg's aim is to place an even greater emphasis on those elements that encourage visitors to pause and allow the art to uplift the spirit.
