The Hafnarfjörður Card, a new gift and loyalty card, will be issued by the Marketing Office of Hafnarfjörður in collaboration with the City of Hafnarfjörður before Christmas.

„The Hafnarfjörður map is the key to Hafnarfjörður,“ says Þóra Hrund Guðbrandsdóttir, managing director of the Marketing Bureau of Hafnarfjörður. „With the map, you have the town in your pocket – or rather, on your palm – and can shop with Hafnarfjörður businesses.“

Valdimar Víðisson, the mayor of Hafnarfjörður, says the municipality has seen many opportunities in the map. „Here in Hafnarfjörður there is a great sense of community, excellent businesses, and so it is very exciting that we have our own economy, so to speak,“ he says.

„The Hafnarfjörður map gives us an opportunity to showcase Hafnarfjörður's shops, whilst supporting shopping locally. I am also proud that Hafnarfjörður is the first municipality to take this step.“

The Hafnarfjörður Card works like the well-known Kringlan gift card, but the 'playground' is the shops, service businesses, cafés and restaurants of Hafnarfjörður. The Hafnarfjörður Card can be put on both your phone, wallet, or get it as a gift voucher.

Thóra says the money on the gift card is waiting to be used in the shop that suits each individual. „So this gift card won't go to waste,“ says Thóra. It can be used to pay for food, services, gifts or anything else a partner company offers. „Some of the shops and service providers offer better deals there.“

The Hafnarfjörður Card is a great gift, and it should be noted that its owners do not pay tax on the card, as is the case with bank cards. The card is available from 5 December.
