The Wellness Village and Hress together for the benefit of mothers!

Want to improve your health and feel the benefits firsthand? The health-focused town of Hafnarfjörður and Hress are running courses to boost the well-being of residents and increase access to fitness. On Wednesday, 17th April, expectant mothers and women with young babies on maternity leave are invited to a class at the fitness centre. Toddlers who are not yet walking are welcome to come along.

Coach Sandra Bjarnadóttir leads the session. She is a qualified nurse, midwife and IAK coach. She runs the 'Mother and Baby' course, where she helps women get back in shape in a healthy way at a level that suits each individual. The class involves strength and cardio exercises with correct body mechanics. Special emphasis is also placed on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, deep core muscles, and the abdominal and back muscles.

There are good facilities for children, who can sleep right outside the gym; a door in the gym leads directly out so you can go and get or tend to them. Inside, there are high chairs, mats, playpens and more for those who wish to make use of them.
