The ice rink opens in mid-December.

The Heart Centre will be officially opened on 11 December, if all goes to plan. 

In December and into January, the City of Hafnarfjörður, in collaboration with Bæjarbíó, will set up a 200-square-metre ice rink named the Heart Rink, which will be located in the car park directly behind Bæjarbíó. The Heart Rink will be a fantastic activity, experience and opportunity for exercise for residents of Hafnarfjörður and visitors to the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður. It will further connect the Christmas Village in the town centre, the restaurants and shops in the heart of Hafnarfjörður, and the light display in Hellisgerði, which was a great success last year.

Eco-friendly ice in a unique setting – in the heart of Hafnarfjörður 

The Heart Rink is environmentally friendly, as neither water nor electricity is used to freeze the ice. The rink is built on specially designed ice plates which have the same properties as natural ice, and all types of skates can be used, except for figure skates which have front blades.

Key information 

• The Ice Rink is scheduled to open on Saturday, 11th December – a date to be confirmed. 
• The ice rink will be open from 2 pm to 8 pm every day. (outside of public holidays)
• Each skating session is 50 minutes and starts on the hour.
• A skating trip is booked on tix.is – The Heart Swell – Skates can also be hired for those who do not own a pair. Bookings will open as soon as the opening date is confirmed.  
• Those who do not own skates can hire them on-site or when booking the skating tour. tix.is – The Heart Swell
• Anyone bringing their own skates must have them sharpened on-site.
• Please remember to arrive in good time to avoid queues.
• Hot chocolate and cream, juice and light refreshments will be served by the ice rink.
