Graduated from school for the second time

Around 30 people graduated from the Hafnarfjörður Leadership School recently. This is the third group of managers to graduate from the school.

The aim of the Leadership School is to create a culture of results-oriented management in line with our motto: Friendly, reliable and smart service. The purpose is to enhance the leadership skills of managers at Hafnarfjörður Municipality and to encourage staff to further develop. These managers, like the two previous groups, gained insight into empowering leadership training, good governance, the role of the leader as a driving force, finance, equality and management.

Growth and respect

„It is our hope that you have gained new skills and knowledge during the course and acquired tools that will enable you to lead your teams and create a culture of growth and respect within our workplace, the City of Hafnarfjörður,“ said Valdimar Víðisson, the Mayor, in a recent transcript of the managers' meeting.

Around 90 managers have now successfully completed the programme. The Leadership School will be held in its current form for the last time in the spring term of 2026, by which time a total of around 120 managers will have graduated. After that, the programme will be run as required as new managers join.

A strong team

„I have said it before and I repeat it here, it is a privilege to belong to this strong group of staff at Hafnarfjörður Municipality. It is thanks to you, among others, that we are seeing good results in workplace analysis; we see Hafnarfjörður coming out well in the Gallup service survey. Thank you for your good work,“ said Valdimar at the graduation.

Yes, strong leaders make Hafnarfjörður even better.
