The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður will be opened for the twentieth time on Friday, 18th November at 5 p.m. and will be open every weekend until Christmas, as well as on St. Lucia's Day. The lights will be switched on the Christmas tree in the middle of Thorsplan at 18:30, after the Hafnarfjörður Wind Orchestra and the Threstir Male Choir have performed a few songs. The Christmas tree is, as before, a gift from Cuxhaven, Hafnarfjörður's twin town in Germany. After the lights have been switched on, Klara Elías will perform the song 'Eyjanótt' in a Christmas costume and her brand-new Christmas song, 'Desember'. The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður will be open every Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. until Christmas, and until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Santas will be visiting the Christmas Village on Saturdays, and Grýla will be roaming the town centre on Sundays.

The farmers at Ytra-Hólmi will be staffing their house all weekends, as in previous years, selling fresh and smoked lamb, sauces and all sorts of accompaniments like pâté, direct from the farm. These and a number of other exciting vendors will have a Christmas house this year, in addition to the Viking society Rimmugýgur holding a craft market on Thorsplan the first and second weekends of Advent.
