The new Emergency Call has arrived in Hafnarfjörður.
Mayor Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir received the Hafnarfjörður Emergency Call today. The Borough of Hafnarfjörður supports the Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad by purchasing the Emergency Call.
An important emergency call to us all!
The City of Hafnarfjörður is supporting the Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad by purchasing the 'Emergency Call'. This year's 'Emergency Call' is a disaster call featuring a drone, which is one of the latest aids in the search for missing people. Hafnarfjörður is proud to have staff among its ranks who work tirelessly and selflessly for the benefit of the rescue teams in Iceland. The gratitude towards these teams is immense.
Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the mayor, received the Hafnarfjörður emergency call today. The sale of the Emergency Call takes place from 30 October to 3 November.
Annual fundraising campaign
The Call for Help is a fundraising campaign in which all the country's rescue teams take part, and it accounts for about a quarter of their total income. The public can expect to see people in rescue team uniforms in all major locations.
December is the busiest time for the rescue services, as it is when the biggest fundraisers take place, in addition to their regular operations and calls-outs, which rarely give any warning.
A cry for help for 19 years
The emergency call of the rescue teams has a long history, having started in 2006, and this is therefore the 19th time the rescue teams have offered the public the chance to support their work by purchasing the Emergency Call.
The profit from the sale goes to rescue squads and accident prevention units, and is used to enhance and strengthen their work.
