Hafnarfjörður's primary schools will begin teaching next week, with pupils returning to school on Monday, 24th August. Further information about the start of the school year at each school can be found on the schools' websites:
- Áslandsskóli
- Hraunvallar School
- Hvaleyrarskóli
- School of Medicine
- Setberg School
- Vidistaðaskóli (Vidistadatun and Engidalur)
- Öldutúnsskóli
The school staff are already at work and have begun preparing for teaching and other tasks associated with the start of the school year. This includes general lesson preparation, various staff training sessions, and getting the school premises ready after the summer.
Training available to school staff is organised by individual schools or by the Hafnarfjörður School Office. For example, new staff at the primary schools receive training in SMT school skills, and the schools' PE teachers receive special training on accident prevention in swimming pools.
The picture to the side is from an accident prevention course for the town's sports teachers, which is being held today and on Thursday.
