Recognition for very ambitious and vigorous work
As was stated at the awards ceremony, the selection committee of the LH Youth Committee believes that a strong youth programme results in the strong horsemen of the future. The future grassroots of the clubs is formed by the young people, and the committee firmly maintains that the youth work is the most important activity of any club. The riding club Sörli received the award for its highly ambitious and vigorous work, with many events being held for all age groups of young people, both with and without horses. The club runs an excellent training and course programme. The youngsters can take part in riding lessons from autumn through to spring, and a club house is also open all winter, where children can take their first steps in equestrianism, which in turn boosts the club's membership. The club has a youth council that works with the Youth Committee; they get the children involved in all sorts of voluntary work. For example, they helped to set up a TREC course where members can practise. A family trip was taken to Skógarhólar, where they used the facilities of the National Federation, went for some good rides and enjoyed a fun time together.
