Regulars at the South Bay Pool can rejoice once again, as the pool will reopen after a few weeks of closure for maintenance work. The swimming pool opens on Saturday, 12th September at 8 a.m. and will be open at the same times as before, on weekdays and at weekends. As with last summer, the outdoor area and its changing rooms will only be open while construction work on the indoor pool and changing rooms is still ongoing. The number of swimmers will initially be limited to 45.
Indoor facilities and indoor swimming pool planned to open in November
Extensive maintenance work has been underway at the Suðurbæjarlaug for the past few weeks, particularly on the swimming pool's roof. At the end of July, a decision was made to close the pool completely, as it had become impractical to keep it open under the combined restrictions of Covid-19 and the policy of having only the outdoor area open, i.e., the pools, hot tubs and the outdoor changing rooms being the only facilities available. It is anticipated that construction work inside the Suðurbæjarlaug will continue for the coming weeks.
Hafnarfjörður Swimming Pool , which has been open at weekends in recent weeks, will revert to its previous opening hours from 11 September. The swimming pool will therefore once again be open every weekday from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm, and closed at weekends.
