FH and Haukar have been battling it out since their first encounter. This can be seen on a brand-new website on the City of Hafnarfjörður's website, which tells the city's story in a visual way. The website is extremely well-made. It features snippets of information about key events in the history of Hafnarfjörður. The layout is refreshing and eye-catching.
„Yes, it was interesting to see that these two sports clubs, FH and Haukar, have been at odds since their very first encounter. That game ended in a brawl. The rivalry between the clubs has therefore existed from the very beginning. This can be seen in the history of Hafnarfjörður,“ says Ingvar Högni Ragnarsson, digital projects manager for the City of Hafnarfjörður.
The Artful Design of the Story
Ingvar oversaw the website's production and worked with Metal, who handled the design, Avista, who handled the web programming, and representatives from the Folk Museum, who wrote the text and selected the images for the site. The design is artistic and technical, as the population count updates while scrolling down the story and new sources of information appear.
„The History of Hafnarfjörður was a project we started when we redesigned the town's main website, hafnarfjordur.is. We thought it was fun to be able to present the town's history on the website in a simple way. The website is intended as a fun addition. It's important to be able to see how our town has developed and grown,“ he says. Alongside the key events mentioned on the website, you can see how the population increases and how Hafnarfjörður develops as a community.
„We wanted to present the story visually, and now that the population has exceeded 30,000, it will be a greater challenge to choose what stands out, because there is so much remarkable happening. This is a living project that will continually add to with interesting content.“
