Hafnarfjörður residents and other interested parties can now monitor traffic on the town's homepage, with data updated daily. Web analytics play a key role in web development. Decisions about the next steps and the development of websites are based on information about how visitors use the site.

As of today, information on traffic on the Hafnarfjörður municipality's website, hafnarfjordur.is, has been made available to everyone.

Web analytics play a key role in web development. Decisions about next steps and website development are based on usage information. As such, visits to the website are analysed, the number of visitors is examined, and information is gathered about where visitors come from, and about any feedback received, which content is most read and least viewed, and also what information visitors are most likely to search for using the search box. All this information is used to make the website more accessible and interesting, based on needs and usage. This is yet another innovation in the town's information services.

These web metrics have formed the basis for the development of the City of Hafnarfjörður's website in recent years, but until now these measurements have not been made public. The data are continuously updated and are drawn from the Google Analytics web analytics tool.

The dashboards were designed by the company Web Analytics and developed in collaboration with staff from the Service and Development Department.
