The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður is open on Saturday and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm, and is bustling with life and activity on both days. The beautifully decorated little Christmas houses have become a nationally renowned marketplace for a variety of gifts, handicrafts and design, ideal for putting in a Christmas stocking, along with delicious food to eat on the premises and tasty treats to take home for the festive table. Singing and performing on stage at Thorsplan are the main event on Saturday, where scenes from the Víðistaðaskóli musical will be performed, and members of the school's orchestra and students from Tónkvísl will play several Christmas songs. The Öldutúnsskóli choir will also be singing, and Gosi and Ósk from the Lotta theatre group will be performing a song medley. Santa Clauses will be roaming the town and Bettína will be out on Strandgatan with her horse-drawn carriage on both Saturday and Sunday, and those interested can take a Christmas tour of the town for a reasonable price. On Sunday, two Christmas parties will be held in Thorsplan: the Fríkirkjan's Christmas party at 11 a.m. and a Christmas party with Siggi Hlö and real-life elves at 3 p.m., in addition to which Grýla will be roaming around town.

In the Christmas houses, there will be a variety of delicious treats for foodies to buy, such as lamb direct from the farm in various forms, goat's cheeses, and all sorts of healthy products made from Icelandic ingredients, as well as homemade fudge, confectionery and toffee. You can also shop for various Christmas gifts, handmade Icelandic decorations made from wood and Perspex, and all sorts of handicrafts, embroidered bed linen, tea towels and cushions. Viking-inspired jewellery and jewellery made from Icelandic lava will be available, as well as Christmas cards, candle holders, and an eco-friendly gift wrapping service.
