Triathlon – Traffic restriction

On 3rd July, 3SH will be holding its annual Triathlon Day from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. In previous years, the competition has been held entirely at the Vallasvæði and on Krýsuvíkurvegur, but this year the race area will be expanded, creating an opportunity for more people to enjoy and take part. The competition will now extend into the centre of Hafnarfjörður, finishing there.

Ásbraut to Ástorg and Strandgata to Fjarðartorg closed northbound.

There will be road closures and traffic delays in the competition area from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm this Sunday, to ensure the safety of everyone involved. The triathlon day begins at 8 a.m. at Ásvallalaug and finishes on Strandstíg, opposite the sports hall on Strandgata, at 4 p.m. A marshalled cycle route will run from Ásvallalaug out to Krýsuvíkurveg and back, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Ásbraut northbound via Ástorg and Strandgata northbound to Fjarðartorg will be closed from 10:15 to 13:15. The bike-to-run transition area will be in the car park at Hafnarfjarðarkirkja, where part of the car park will be reserved for the competition. The running leg of the Triathlon Day will take place on Strandstíg, where the prize-giving will also be held. The path will be closed to other traffic from 10:20 to 16:00 on the day of the competition.

Traffic restrictions and road closures will be managed by staff from the City of Hafnarfjörður, volunteers, and staff from 3SH.
