The new tender for the City of Hafnarfjörður's comprehensive insurance is, as previously stated, set to deliver savings of almost 17 million króna per year, or around 51 million króna over the term of the contract. The new contract is valid for three years, from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2018, with the option to extend twice for two years at a time. At the same time, the insurance cover was re-evaluated, so the tender is not only delivering savings but also better cover on more favourable terms. It is planned to tender for more services in the new financial year, thereby establishing a regular and established process for tenders within the municipality.
