Works that enrich and deepen the town's artistic life

The grants from the Cultural and Tourism Committee of the City of Hafnarfjörður for projects and events were presented at a ceremony in Hafnarborg on the last day of winter, alongside the appointment of the Artist in Residence. Twenty projects received a grant this time, and the chairman of the committee, Guðbjörg Oddný Jónasdóttir, presented the grant.

Cultural grants are awarded twice a year to organisations and projects that are likely to further enrich and deepen the city's arts scene. The allocation of grants by the City of Hafnarfjörður is based on an assessment of the applications. Cultural events, artists, associations or institutions applying for a grant must have a connection to Hafnarfjörður in some way. This includes permanent residency, an event or project taking place in Hafnarfjörður, and/or a project involving the promotion of the city's cultural activities. In addition to these projects, a partnership agreement was made with the town cinema for the 'Heart of Hafnarfjörður' festival, which has drawn thousands of visitors each year.
