A different Ash Wednesday in the time of Covid-19
Civil Protection, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer and the Department for Education, has prepared guidelines regarding the different Ash Wednesday 2021, which everyone is asked to observe.
Ideas during the pandemic
Civil Protection, in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer and Home and School, has compiled guidelines regarding Ash Wednesday, which all relevant parties are kindly asked to adopt and actively participate in the task of holding a good, joyful, yet different Ash Wednesday during the pandemic..

Let's make a difference in our local area.
Let's celebrate the day at home, at school, at the after-school club or at the youth centre.
Let's meet in costume
Let's break up the routine by all coming in fancy dress. Young and old alike.
Revive old traditions
Now is an opportunity to revive old Ash Wednesday traditions, such as making Ash Wednesday bags and hitting the cat out of the barrel. With public health in mind, of course.
Let's sing for sweets
If there is a tradition of going from house to house or business to business in the neighbourhood, it would be ideal for parents' associations to take it upon themselves to keep track of where people can come and sing for sweets. Please ensure you observe the highest standards of hygiene and only give out sweets that are individually wrapped.
