Three students from Hafnarfjörður competed on behalf of their youth clubs in the Samfés singing competition, which was held yesterday and broadcast live on RÚV. Viktoría Tómasdóttir, a Year 10 pupil at Lækjarskóli, emerged as the winner of this year's competition.

Three students from Hafnarfjörður competed on behalf of their youth clubs in the Samfés singing competition, which was held yesterday and shown on live broadcast on RÚV. Viktoría Tómasdóttir, a Year 10 pupil at Lækjarskóli, emerged as the winner of this year's competition. She sang the song Seven Nation Army by the band The White Stripes and played the keyboard accompaniment herself. Athena Ísold Birgisdóttir from the youth club Verið at Hvaleyrarskóli and Jada Birna Long Guðnadóttir from Nú also performed brilliantly.

The girls emerged as winners of the Hafnarfjörður Singing Competition, held in mid-April, and thereby became the representatives of the youth clubs in Hafnarfjörður for the Samfés Singing Competition. Fourteen students from Hafnarfjörður took part in the Hafnarfjörður Singing Competition this year, which was held in Live stream from Bæjarbíó where this large group of talented young people stepped forward and excelled.
About the Samfés Song Contest
Samfés singing competition is one of the events of the SamFesting. The competition has been an important event in the work of Samfés ever since it was first held in 1992. The Singing Competition gives young people the opportunity to perform and sing in front of their peers from all over the country, and it is clear that thousands of young people have performed over the years. In the current format, thirty acts advance to the final after preliminary rounds in each region of the country. Prizes are awarded for the top places, but a special additional prize is given for the best Icelandic lyrics written by a teenager.
