Verkherinn is a work-related summer programme for young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity. Most people enter the general labour market at some point in their lives. Verkherinn's summer programme is good preparation for the future and gives young people the opportunity to try working in workplaces and take part in a fun course.
The Work Programme for young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity
Verkherinn is a work-related summer programme for young people with disabilities or reduced work capacity. Most people enter the general labour market at some point in their lives. The Verkhérinn summer programme is good preparation for the future and gives young people the opportunity to try working in jobs and take part in a fun course. Verkherinn takes place at Húsinu, at 14 Suðurgata, 220 Hafnarfjörður. The entrance is on the Strandgata side.
Who can apply for a job at Verkhernum?
Young people with disabilities or reduced functional ability, aged 16–20, can apply to Verkhernum. Work takes place in the mornings on all weekdays. Young people are also offered the opportunity to take part in social or leisure activities in the afternoons.
What is done in the Workshop?
We work in partnership with businesses in the town. In recent years, Verkherinn has collaborated with, for example, Krónan, the Hafnarfjörður Library, nurseries, primary schools, etc. Individualised work is also available, where tasks are tailored to the needs and work capacity of each person.
The Age of the Worker
The workshop is open from 26 May to 4 July (6 weeks) and then again from 5 to 15 August (2 weeks). It is closed for 4 weeks from 7 July to 4 August.
