Experience the warm Christmas spirit in Hafnarfjörður
„Full of gratitude for the warm reception over the past few years, we look forward to the coming weeks and sincerely hope that as many people as possible enjoy the Advent season in the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður,“ says Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, the mayor, in a column she writes for the 2024 Hafnarfjörður Christmas Magazine.
„The gentle and beautiful Christmas lights are beginning to brighten our lives, and we are preparing for this wonderful time that is upon us. We, the people of Hafnarfjörður, gladly welcome visitors to the Christmas town, which has firmly established itself as such in recent years,“ says Mayor Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir in a column she writes for the 2024 Christmas issue of the City of Hafnarfjörður's magazine.
„It is pleasing to see how many people visit us during Advent to experience the one, true Christmas spirit in a beautiful and peaceful setting. The warmth attracts; the Christmas lights are warming, unique restaurants tempt visitors, beautiful shops offer a specialised selection of goods, cultural venues enrich the spirit, but above all, it is the relaxed atmosphere, the surroundings and the festive spirit of the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður that people come for.
With each passing year, more and more effort has been steadily put into decorating and beautifying the town, getting it into its Christmas finery and making changes and improvements. The range of entertainment options is growing, the arts and cultural life is flourishing like never before during Advent, and it is wonderful to see how residents and business owners are increasingly going to great lengths to decorate their properties and enhance the festive atmosphere. This year, a new roundhouse with shops and eateries will be opened in the heart of the Christmas Village, which will undoubtedly attract even more visitors. There will also be more on offer in the Hellisgerði botanical garden than ever before, and it will be exciting to see how this develops.
