To mark the occasion, there is, for example, free swimming for children and adults on these two days at Ásvallalaug, Suðurbæjarlaug and Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar. The winter break in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools is at the end of the week; on Thursday, 14th October and Friday, 15th October. On this occasion, among other things,. Free swimming for children and adults for these two days at Ásvallalaug, Suðurbæjarlaug and Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar.

The health town of Hafnarfjörður offers children and their families to take part Fun bingo during the winter holiday, where you can find great ideas for fun and varied activities for the whole family. The Little Hafnarfjörður Scavenger Hunt 2021 then leads participants to 15 interesting places that, among other things, highlight the town's history.

Primary school children are welcome at Hafnarfjörður Library during the winter break, the results of the collaboration between the leisure centres and the library, 'The Knickers Factory', will be on display in the multipurpose hall. Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History you will be able to take part in a fun and educational family treasure hunt that guides visitors around the museum and Port city offers primary school children the chance to come and take part in fun and creative art workshops.

  • A treasure hunt for children and a children's tour of the Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History at 13:00. Open 11:00–15:00.
  • The exhibition Community of Sensing Beings at Hafnarborg. Open 12-17
  • An art workshop run by Þórdís Jóhannesdóttir from 13:00 to 15:00 at Hafnarborg. Collage pictures and pop-up books will be made, where houses, homes and creatures come to life on the pages of the books.
  • D&D for beginners at Hafnarfjörður Library – booking required (fully booked)
  • The Knickers Factory – the result of a collaboration between the after-school clubs and the library at the Children's Book and Film Festival, on display in the multipurpose hall.

Friday, 15th October

  • FREE SWIMMING from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Ásvallalaug and Suðurbæjarlaug, and at the Swimming Hall until 9 p.m.
  • A treasure hunt for the children and interesting exhibitions at the Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History. Open 11-15.
  • An art workshop led by Karólína Einarsdóttir from 13:00 to 15:00 at Hafnarborg. The concept of „sensing beings“ is explored from a child's perspective. Participants will have the opportunity to create small beings from clay that perceive the world differently to us humans.
  • Family Hour in the Children's Department at Hafnarfjörður Library – Story time at 1 pm 
  • The Knickers Factory – the result of a collaboration between the after-school clubs and the library at the Children's Book and Film Festival, on display in the multipurpose hall.

Saturday, 16th October

  • A treasure hunt for the children and interesting exhibitions at the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum. Open 11am-5pm.
