Nearly 20 centimetres of snow fell overnight and by morning. Ploughing and gritting have been carried out in Hafnarfjörður on shifts throughout the weekend. All of the council's available equipment was deployed early this morning, and contractors were also called in, as is always done during periods of high demand.

Roads are divided into priority order.

Roads are prioritised, with main roads being tackled first, followed by bus routes, routes to schools and nurseries, and hazardous spots, hills, and so on. Once traffic flow on these roads has been restored, snow clearing will begin on residential streets and other minor roads. Contractors are working in ten of the town's neighbourhoods, with five machines clearing footpaths as a priority and another five on institutional grounds.  Yesterday, work began on clearing snow from the neighbourhoods with wheel loaders and lorries. This work will also continue today. Comments regarding snow clearance and icy conditions should be submitted via the council's feedback portal. Send a suggestion
