Additional discount on nursery fees and additional subsidy for childminders
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council approved additional subsidies according to the following income thresholds for parents and guardians:
The Hafnarfjörður Town Council has approved an additional discount on nursery fees (for the placement fee only) for the 2021-2022 school year, and additional subsidies for day-care providers, based on the following income thresholds for parents and guardians:
Individual
- 0 to 5,515,232 kr. (up to 459,603 kr. per month) 75% discount or additional subsidy 1
- 5,515,232 to 6,618,277 kr. (up to 551,523 kr. per month) 50% discount or additional subsidy 2
People in a relationship
- 0 to 8,272,849 kr. (up to 689,404 kr. per month) 75% discount or additional subsidy 1
- 8,272,849 to 9,927,404 kr. – (up to 827,285 kr. per month) 50% discount or additional subsidy 2
The discount is calculated based on income from the three months prior to the application, as shown on the PAYE statement. Applications for the discount and additional subsidy must be received by 20 September for the current year, and must be renewed for each school year. Applications received after this date must be submitted by the 20th of each month for the following month. Payments are not adjusted retrospectively.
Documents that must accompany the application are a PAYE statement from the tax authority showing earnings for the last three months (available online at www.skattur.is)
