400th meeting of the Culture and Tourism Committee
The 400th meeting of the Culture and Tourism Committee was held this morning, the first meeting having been held in 2003. The role of the Culture and Tourism Committee is to formulate and implement policy on culture and tourism in the municipality in a broad sense, and to advise the Town Council and the Municipal Council on these matters.
The 400th meeting of the Culture and Tourism Committee was held this morning, the first meeting having been held in 2003. The role of the Culture and Tourism Committee is to formulate and implement policy on culture and tourism in the widest sense within the municipality, and to advise the Town Council and the Municipal Council on these matters. The Cultural and Tourist Affairs Committee fulfils the role of the board of the Hafnarfjörður Library, in accordance with the Library Act no. 150/2012, and of the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum, in accordance with the Museum Act no. 141/2011 and the Act on Cultural Heritage no. 80/2012.
On The 400th meeting reviewed a draft action plan for culture and tourism. which is based on the comprehensive strategic planning for Hafnarfjörður and data from open consultation meetings convened by the Cultural and Tourism Committee in the autumn. The meeting also discussed the selection of Artist of the Year 2023 and go over the preparations Previous allocation of cultural grants which will be announced in early January. The implementation of the Christmas Village and related events was then discussed, and the Culture and Tourism Committee was pleased to hear of the large number of visitors to the Christmas town of Hafnarfjörður and reminded everyone that The deadline for submitting nominations for the best Christmas decorations is Sunday, 11th December..
The Chair of the Culture and Tourism Committee is Guðbjörg Oddný Jónasdóttir, and the other representatives are Jón Atli Magnússon and Sigurður Þ. Ragnarsson. Also attending the meeting this time were Aldís Arnardóttir, Director of Hafnarborg, Björn Pétursson, Director of the Hafnarfjörður Municipal Museum, Sigrún Guðnadóttir, Director of the Hafnarfjörður Library, Sigurjón Ólafsson, Director of the Service and Development Department, and Andri Ómarsson, Project Manager for Culture and Marketing, who records the minutes of the Culture and Tourism Committee. Missing from the picture is Sigrún Guðnadóttir, Director of Hafnarfjörður Library, but also present is Mayor Rósa Guðbjartsdóttir, who dropped by the meeting for this occasion.
