Spring clean-up – garden waste bins at all primary schools

Dagana 14. – 17. maí 2026 standa yfir hreinsunardagar í Hafnarfirði undir yfirskriftinni HREINSUM HAFNARFJÖRÐ. Þá geta íbúar í Hafnarfirði losað sig við garðúrgang í gám innan allra hverfa við hvern og einn grunnskóla.

The containers will be at the schools from the morning of Thursday, 14th May, Ascension Day, until 5 p.m. on Sunday, 17th May. Residents of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to use the service or to take their bags directly to Sorpa.

Please note that Sorpa accepts garden waste free of charge. Please note – the containers are for garden waste only.

Let's take an active part – Let's use the service

Residents are encouraged to use recycled packaging or reusable bags when cleaning. Please note that garden waste must not be put into bags in the bin; instead, the contents of the bags should be emptied directly into it.. It is also advisable, where possible, to collect garden waste in a compost heap in a convenient place in the garden and use it for composting.

Residents in all neighbourhoods of Hafnarfjörður are encouraged to take an active part in the clean-up, and it is ideal to get to work in the garden, prune bushes and flowerbeds in the run-up to and during the clean-up days.

Let's clean, reuse, sort and pick!
