Ice, salt and sand

There is a great deal of ice and slush on the roads, pavements and car parks throughout the town at the moment. The City of Hafnarfjörður's service centre is on duty almost around the clock for gritting and sanding, but this is not always enough.

Regarding sandbags, there is sand, bags and shovels available for residents to use at the Hafnarfjörður Service Centre at Norðurhellu 2. Very soon, a large bin will also be added outside, and residents will then be able to collect sandbags without having to fill them themselves. 

Bins are always filled at the end of the day.

We also have salt boxes at 14 selected locations in the town. 

We encourage residents to be aware of their local surroundings and to assist with sanding to ensure the safety of everyone.
