Athlete of Hafnarfjörður

The Hafnarfjörður Town Council and the Sports and Leisure Committee are holding an awards ceremony for athletes competing with teams from Hafnarfjörður, Awards for Icelandic champions, cup winners, Nordic champions, world champions and special achievements, along with the selection of Hafnarfjörður's Sportswoman, Sportsman and Sports Team of the Year 2017.

 Nearly 500 individuals who have won national titles with a Hafnarfjörður team in 2017 are being recognised at the celebration. Award recipients will be chosen from a fund established by Rio Tinto in Iceland, ÍBH and the City of Hafnarfjörður, which is intended to support sports activities for under-18s. Awards will be presented to cup champions and to those who have won international titles.

         The election for Hafnarfjörður's sportswoman, sportsman and sports team is taking place, with a total of eleven nominations in each category. The 2017 Hafnarfjörður team will be named.

         All residents are welcome and the celebration will take place in the sports hall on Strandgata at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 27th December.
