New Year's bonfire in Hafnarfjörður
The New Year's bonfire will, as usual, be held at the Haukar sports grounds in Völlunum at 20:00. Specifically, in the lava field in front of the sports centre, the bonfire is a joint event organised by Knattspyrnufélagið Haukar and the City of Hafnarfjörður.

Passers-by are advised to keep a safe distance from the bonfire, dress appropriately for the weather, leave fireworks at home and fully enjoy the company of friends, family and other cheerful residents and visitors of the City of Hafnarfjörður. The Sports and Leisure Committee, the prevention officer, parent councils and parent-teacher associations in Hafnarfjörður, together with the police, encourage parents of children and teenagers in the town to make New Year's Eve a fun and family-friendly evening.
As usual, some traffic can be expected in Völlunum on New Year's Eve, and it is therefore recommended that people set off in good time to enjoy the bonfires and fireworks. Residents in Völlunum and the surrounding areas are also encouraged to walk this route if possible.
