The party starts tonight!

The Heart of Hafnarfjörður kicks off this evening with the unveiling of a star dedicated to Björgvin Halldórsson on the pavement outside the Bæjarbíó cinema. Jónatan Garðarsson will open the festival with a speech about Björgvin, one of the country's foremost singers, who was born and raised in Hafnarfjörður. Bæjarbíó has hosted a vibrant concert scene in recent years, and Björgvin himself has performed there. However, this evening a host of artists will take to the stage in honour of the star, Björgvin, with many musicians either living in or hailing from Hafnarfjörður. However, it will not just be Hafnarfjörður residents performing tonight, but also friends of the town. This is the third year the Hjarta Hafnarfjarðar music festival has been held, and the festival has grown and thrived with each passing year, becoming one of the largest music festivals of its kind organised by a municipality.
