Planning statement
Hraun West, between the Reykjavík Road, Fjarðarhraun and Flatahraun – change of land use and urban densification, amendment to the 2013–2025 Master Plan of Hafnarfjörður.
At the meeting of the Planning and Building Committee on 26 June 2018, the following resolution was passed: A planning statement for an amendment to the 2013–2025 master plan for Hafnarfjörður, covering an area bounded by Reykjavíkurvegur, Fjarðaráhraun and Flatahraun, was approved by the town council on 23 May. 2018 and in the Planning and Building Committee on 30 April 2018, has been sent to the Planning Authority for comment. The Planning Authority's comment has been submitted along with an amended planning statement.
The Planning and Building Committee agrees to send the submitted description for publication. The procedure shall be in accordance with Section 36 of the Planning Act No. 123/2010.
When work on a proposal for an amendment to the general plan begins, the local council shall prepare a description of the planning project which sets out the council's planning objectives and information on the underlying assumptions, pending policies and the proposed planning process, such as public consultation and engagement with residents of the municipality and other stakeholders.
Please note – the original consultation period for the proposal has been extended. The proposal will be on display at the Environment and Planning Department of Hafnarfjörður Municipality at Norðurhellu 2 until 23 September 2019. It can also be viewed below.

Further information is available from the Department of Environment and Planning. Interested parties and neighbours are hereby notified, and those who believe they have an interest are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the proposal.
Written comments on the proposal should be sent to the Hafnarfjörður Service Desk, Strandgata 6, 220 Hafnarfjörður or to: hafnarfjordur@hafnarfjordur.is no later than 23 September 2019. Comments should be marked „Master Plan – Hraun West“ and the sender's name, national insurance number and address must be stated.
