During the 2019–2020 school year, a new education policy for Hafnarfjörður will be developed. In preparing the policy, stakeholders and others are invited to provide comments and ideas. 

During the 2019-2020 academic year, a new education strategy for Hafnarfjörður will be developed. A steering group, composed of councillors and staff from the Education and Public Health Department of Hafnarfjörður, is working on it.  In developing the strategy, stakeholders and others are invited to provide comments and ideas. Growing, maturing and learning in a constantly changing society

The Education and Public Health Department organised a meeting on the development of an education strategy for Hafnarfjörður at Víðistaðaskóli and Hraunvallaskóli with staff from the town's nursery and primary schools, along with other interested and relevant parties. These meetings launched the first phase of work on the strategy, where ideas for its creation were presented. The strategy is intended for pupils in Hafnarfjörður up to the age of 18 and is being developed for the next 10 years. The education strategy is intended for pupils in Hafnarfjörður up to the age of 18 and is designed to last for the next 10 years. Kristín Thoroddsen, Chair of the Education Committee, presented the work that is underway on the development of the education strategy and the importance of the strategy being shaped in consultation with all those involved in school life in one way or another, whether they are pupils, teachers, parents or other stakeholders. Associate Professor Gylfi Dalmann Aðalsteinsson gave a talk on strategy development entitled „Formulating and Implementing an Education Strategy”, and Fanney Dóróthe Halldórsdóttir, Director of Education- and Public Health Department of Hafnarfjörður municipality spoke about the key areas of the education policy and the content of education, and how the education policy should ensure that children have the opportunity to grow, develop and learn in an ever-changing society. 

Suggestions via Better Hafnarfjörður

Through the communication platform „ A Better Hafnarfjörður “All stakeholders will have the opportunity to submit ideas and suggestions on the development of the education strategy. The strategy will be developed during the 2019–2020 school year through workshops, meetings and dialogue with all relevant parties.  Meetings will be announced separately.
