Agreement with Sambo 80

A two-year agreement has been signed with a new sports club called Sambo 80. The City of Hafnarfjörður provides the club with
facilities in the old fire station, on the second floor where the offices
of the fire brigade were. Sambo 80 commits to organising courses and introducing the sport to children, young people and adults. 

Sambo is a blend of a self-defence sport and a combat sport that traces its origins to Russia. The sport is in many ways similar to judo and takes place
on the mat. Sambo 80 has already begun introducing and training in self-defence at the town's primary schools, giving the youngest year groups the opportunity to learn self-defence. At the same time, the sport empowers the children.
