Book donations for school libraries – reading is the game of life

The libraries of Hafnarfjörður's nursery and primary schools received funding as a gift from their municipality for Christmas, with the aim of allowing them to add to their book stock and include new and exciting books from the 2019 Christmas book flood.  

It is important for all libraries to be in tune with the times and what is happening in society at any given time. This gift gives the libraries the opportunity to meet children's interest in reading where it is, here and now, and to seize what is on offer precisely when the most new books are being published. The project further supports the ambitious and large-scale initiative to promote reading and literacy among pupils in Hafnarfjörður's nursery and primary schools, which is based on the fundamental principle that reading and literacy are truly a lifelong pursuit with a profound impact for the future.
