In this first episode of 2020, the Vitans' guest is Hulda Björk Finnsdóttir, project manager for Brúin. It is very fitting to start the new year with a discussion about an interesting innovation and development project that has received well-deserved attention both at home and abroad. A project designed to bridge the gap between different service units and systems, both within and outside the municipality, with the aim of integrating the services provided.

A power ball that has been widely used

Hulda Björk is an energetic and positive former gymnastics star from Garðabær who completed her social work degree in Norway, where she lived for several years and gained her first work experience, among other things, on a prenatal diagnostics department at the University Hospital of Trondheim. She is the youngest of four siblings and describes herself as the family's little black sheep. Child-rearing has always been her main passion, and from an early age she had strong opinions on the subject. She therefore sought to work in nurseries, coached gymnastics, and found all this work with children and family studies in general to be extremely interesting. This interest has been reflected in her studies and career, and she now works as a Project Manager for Brúin at Hafnarfjörður Municipality.

Since the autumn of 2018, the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður has been operating BRÚNA, a new procedure for services to children in the municipality's nursery and primary schools, which has the overarching goal of improving the quality of life for children, adolescents and their families. An interesting project that originated as an idea in 2016, with its implementation and introduction decided for autumn 2018. Recently, Brúin was nominated for a European award, and a group from here travelled to Brussels to take part in the awards ceremony for selected projects.
