TAKK wall in the centre of Hafnarfjörður – take part

Hafnarfjörður encourages residents and friends of Hafnarfjörður to take an active part in „An example to follow“ the incentive campaign which is running from 17th to 30th June. The campaign is dedicated to Mrs Vigdís Finnbogadóttir and the Icelandic nation to mark the occasion of the 29th of June, when it will be 40 years since Mrs Vigdís was elected President of Iceland.

Let's pause and take notice of what is well done.

At this significant and beautiful milestone, it is fitting to pause, reflect on what has been done well, and thank those who have been a role model in one way or another. From 17th to 30th June, everyone in the country is encouraged to send a handwritten or electronic message to family, friends, workplaces, charities or others whom the writers wish to thank for being a role model. The campaign began on Iceland's National Day on 17 June, when a postcard was distributed in a print run of 75,000 with a distribution in Morgunblaðið. On the website www.tilfyrirmyndar.is where you can access all the information about the campaign and download digital images to share on social media. Electronic copies of the letter materials are also available in numerous languages, for both sending and printing, which is particularly fitting as Vigdís has always placed great emphasis on language and culture.

The nation, including residents of Hafnarfjörður and friends of the town, are encouraged to take an active part in the campaign by sharing photos on social media, with a focus on Instagram and Facebook, using the hashtags: @tilfyrirmyndar and #tilfyrirmyndar. A beautiful 'Thank You' wall has been painted on the gable end of the house at 4 Strandgata in the centre of Hafnarfjörður, and the wall is visible to all who pass along Strandgata and Reykjavíkurvegur.

We encourage you to head into the city centre for a photoshoot, snap a picture and post it using the hashtags @tilfyrirmyndar and #tilfyrirmyndar, thereby supporting this worthy and beautiful initiative and thanking those who have been a role model in one way or another.
