Additional grant for leisure activities in autumn 2021

Hafnarfjörður would like to draw special attention to the fact that children born between 2006 and 2015 who are registered at home addresses with low incomes may be entitled to an additional grant of kr. 25,000 for sports and leisure activities in autumn 2021. This is a grant from the Ministry of Social Affairs due to COVID-19, which is administered and paid out by the local authorities. The aim of the grant is to equalise opportunities for children to participate in organised sports and leisure activities.

Is your child entitled to additional funding for extracurricular activities in the autumn of 2021?

Hafnarfjörður would like to draw special attention to the fact that children born between 2006 and 2015 who are registered at home addresses with low incomes may be entitled to an additional grant of kr. 25,000 for sports and leisure activities in autumn 2021. This is a grant from the Ministry of Social Affairs due to COVID-19, which is administered and paid out by the local authorities. The aim of the grant is to equalise opportunities for children to participate in organised sports and leisure activities.

Applications must be received no later than 31 December 2021.

If a parent/guardian believes their child is entitled to a supplementary grant for sports and leisure activities in the autumn term 2021 and has not already claimed the grant via Sportabler, they can apply for the grant at Our pages no later than 31 December 2021.

The application must be accompanied by a receipt from the sports and leisure association and a statement of direct debits.

By applying through My pages must be accompanied by a receipt from the sports and leisure club. The receipt must state the child's name and national insurance number, and the period the course runs for. Also, a 2021 PAYE statement for the individual, married couple or cohabiting partners must be provided. The PAYE statement can be obtained from tax.is

The following are the conditions for the payment of an additional grant:

  • The total income of the household, whether an individual, a married couple or a cohabiting couple, was lower than 787,200 kr. on average per month during the period March–June 2021 (March, April, May and June).
  • Valid only for courses in the Autumn 2021 term, i.e. from August to December 2021.
  • Applications must be received no later than 31 December 2021.
  • The child must have been born between 2006 and 2015.
