Agreement on a sports hall at Ásvellir and the surrender of a plot of land
The City of Hafnarfjörður and the football club Haukar recently signed a construction agreement for the building of a football clubhouse at Ásvellir. In parallel, the club handed over an undeveloped plot of land to the City of Hafnarfjörður for the development of 100-110 apartments. Specifically, the plot at Ásvellir 3, which was created from the Ásvellir 1 plot and is already defined in the approved detailed plan for Ásvellir 1. This transfer creates additional scope to accelerate the construction of the football centre.
An exciting development is planned in a mature neighbourhood by the Haukar Sports Centre in Ásvellir.

A contract for the design of the sports hall is already in place, and the final design is scheduled for completion in April 2022. In parallel with the design, an environmental impact assessment of the building is being carried out, and it is expected to be completed by spring 2022 at the latest. Once the complete design of the sports hall and its environmental impact assessment are available, the construction of the building will be put out to tender.
Flats site in a great location
Ásvellir 3 is a unique plot of land located in an established neighbourhood, opposite the Ásvallalaug swimming pool and adjacent to the Ástjarnar nature reserve. Every effort will be made to speed up the development on the site as much as possible to cause minimal disruption to the area. The plot permits the construction of a block of flats with 2-5 storeys, accommodating a total of 100-110 flats. Parking may be provided partly in a single-storey car park. Vellir in Hafnarfjörður is a popular, family-friendly neighbourhood with a wide range of recreational and outdoor activities, and is close to all shops, services and cultural amenities. The minimum price for the plot is kr. 447,919,120, and the deadline for bids is 13:00 on Friday, 28 January.
