The Adventure is at the Library – On Worlds and in the Heavens
The new Hafnarfjörður Library was filled with colourful characters, adventures and guests of all ages on the first day of the costume and play festival, Heima og Himingeimi. The festival runs until 6 p.m. today and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow.
Worlds and Heavens 2026
The costume and gaming festival Worlds and Heavens is in full swing. The festival runs for three days, from 4th–6th September, and this year offers around thirty workshops and five different worlds. These include film costumes, fantasy LARPing, historical re-enactment, Japanese cosplay, prop-making and fencing.
The weekend's programme includes, among other things, laser sword training, armour-making, arts and crafts, concerts, photography stalls, games and displays, dancing, runic reading, costume-making and much more.
The festival is being held for the third time this year. Around 5,000 guests attended in its first year, and last year the number of visitors doubled when around 10,000 people made their way to Heima and Himingeimi.
And we're just getting started!
The Adventure Worlds continue to welcome visitors today, Saturday and Sunday. So there's plenty left for those who missed the first day – and not least for those who came and want more.
Worlds and Heavens are a festival for everyone who enjoys costumes, games, creativity and adventures – whether people come in full regalia or just as they are.
Come into the worlds with us – the adventure continues all weekend in Hafnarfjörður.
