Tuesday, 6 October at 12 We warmly welcome you to the next lunchtime concert at Hafnarborg, where the singer will be Martyna Gesella guest Antonia Hevesi, pianist and artistic director of the concert series.

Martyna Gesella, a soprano, comes from Poland and studied at the Gdańsk University of Music and the Gioachino Rossini Conservatory of Music in Pesaro, Italy. She has also studied singing and acting, in addition to her solo studies. Martyna has appeared on opera stages in Poland, Italy and Germany, performing works by composers such as Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Bellini and Mozart.

Among the roles she has taken on is Violetta in The Tragedy, Fiordiligi in That's how they all are and the title role in Tosca. She has won awards at the international singing competition Golden Voices in Warsaw and has also sung with José Carreras. Martyna is now performing in Iceland, where she has, among other things, sung the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with the Northern Call opera company earlier this year. She also works as a singing teacher.

Antonia Hevesi, a pianist, has been the artistic director of the lunchtime concerts at Hafnarborg since their inception, and they have been a regular feature of the museum's programme since 2003. There, Antonía has been joined by many of the country's leading singers, with the aim of the concerts being to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music at their leisure. The lunchtime concerts are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.

The concert starts at 12 noon and will last for about half an hour. The venue opens at 11:30 am and the concert is open to all, subject to capacity. Admission is free.
