Do you want to have a positive impact on people's lives?

We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic individual to be a specialist at Læk, a sanctuary for individuals with mental health challenges. The aim of Læk is to reduce social isolation and improve quality of life. An exciting and rewarding role with a variety of tasks is on offer.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Engage visitors on their own terms / a varied project
  • Striving to improve quality of life and promote empowerment
  • Reception of guests at Lækjar
  • Help in the kitchen
  • Health promotion, outdoor activities and creativity
  • Health promotion for guests
  • Take care of designing and creating new courses.
  • Other tasks as per the job description

Educational and competency requirements: 

  • A university degree (B.A./B.S.) in a recognised subject relevant to the role, such as psychology, education, occupational therapy, social work, leisure studies, or developmental education.
  • Experience of working and communicating with people with mental disabilities is desirable.
  • Interest in the subject
  • Initiative and positivity in communication and work
  • Interpersonal skills, initiative and a willingness to collaborate
  • Imagination
  • An interest in creative work is an advantage, and knowledge or experience of pottery and/or the use of a pottery kiln is particularly welcome, but not essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to respond to changing circumstances
  • Knowledge of Icelandic

A clean criminal record is a condition.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and BHM.
