The emergency call is crucial to the rescue operation

The Mayday Call has arrived in Hafnarfjörður. The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður supports the Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad by purchasing the Mayday Call. In doing so, the town thanks the rescue squad members for their selfless voluntary work and their important contribution to the safety of its residents. Mayor Þórður Þórarinsson took delivery of the Emergency Call this morning.

Support for the rescue teams

The annual Neyðarkallið sale is one of the most important fundraisers for the country's rescue teams. The proceeds go to rescue teams and accident prevention units and are used, among other things, to purchase and renew rescue equipment, for training, and to support the work.

The Emergency Call has been on sale since 2006 and has therefore become a staple of the fundraising work of the Lifesaving Society Landsbjörg. Behind every Emergency Call is a person who is ready to put everything aside when help is needed.

Always ready when the call comes

The Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad plays an important role in the community. Members of the squad provide invaluable voluntary work in rescue operations, searches, training and accident prevention.

Hafnarfjörður is also proud to have staff who take an active part in rescue squad work.

Hafnarfjörður encourages residents to give a warm welcome to the rescue team members and support this important work by purchasing the 'Neyðarkallinn'. Yes, from 4th to 8th November, we can answer the 'Neyðarkallinn' and thereby contribute to the safety of us all.

The City of Hafnarfjörður encourages you all to support worthy causes.
