• 0809322 – Equality Officers of Departments

  The Equality and Democracy Officer reported that all departments, with the exception of the Education Department, have appointed an equality officer within their department. The first meeting with the representatives is planned for January.

  The Committee on Democracy and Equality urges the Education Department to appoint its own representative, as stipulated by the Equality Policy of the City of Hafnarfjörður, as the department plays an important role in the municipality's equality work.

• 0812193 – Equality House, service contract

  A request, dated 15 December, from the Equality Centre for the conclusion of a service contract with the company for the year 2009 was submitted.

  The Committee on Democracy and Equality expresses its satisfaction with the activities of the Equality House but refers to the fact that draft financial statements for 2009 are already available. The committee is of the opinion that it is not appropriate to grant the request at this stage, given the funding allocated to the portfolio. The request has been referred to the Town Council for further consideration.
